Ionian Univeristy students take part in 41st Athens Authentic Marathon
CORFU. The Ionian University student team achieved excellent results.
(Ionian University) The Ionian University participated in the Athens Authentic Marathon for the first time with great success. The University Gymnastics team took part with runners in all categories, demonstrating a high level of sportsmanship and dynamism. Our students participated in the 5 km Student Night Run, as well as in the main distances of 5 km, 10 km, and the classic 42 km route, where the team reached the maximum number of entries allocated by the event organisers.
The Ionian University student team achieved outstanding performances, with many of its students ranking among the top 100 out of the 2,800 participants in the Night Run. Equally impressive were the performances in the 5 km and 10 km events. In the challenging and historic classic 42 km route, from Marathon to the Panathenaic Stadium (Kalimarmaro), the 11 runners from the Ionian University—comprising students, academic staff and administrative personnel—successfully completed the race, full of smiles and pride.
Congratulations to everyone for their participation and dedication. They are already looking forward to next year, aiming to have even more participants in this significant athletics event!
The administration of the Ionian University actively supports the development of university sports, recognising the importance of physical activity for the overall well-being of students and the university community. By strengthening the initiatives of the University Gymnasium, it promotes participation in sporting events, encourages the cultivation of a sportsmanlike spirit and fosters the healthy physical and mental development of our students.
