CORFU. Police checks are continuing.
Traffic Police carried out checks between 29/09 and 5/10 in Corfu, Zakynthos, Cephalonia and Lefkada.
-2,675 vehicles were checked
-771 offences were confirmed 410 in Corfu, 189 in Zakynthos, 109 in Cephalonia and 63 in Lefkada.
These included the following:
- 263 for illegal parking
- 115 for speeding
- 69 for not using helmets
- 45 for driving without a licence
- 30 for not using seat belts
- 24 for MOT violations
- 16 for driving under the influence
- 14 for driving on the wrong side of the road
- 11 for no insurance
- 9 for using a mobile phone whilst driving
- 6 for driving dangerously
