The European Seismological Commission (ESC) is hosting the 39th European Seismology General Assembly in Corfu. Throughout the week from September 22 to 27, over 700 established and young researchers from more than 60 countries will discuss the latest developments in seismology and related scientific fields.

Topics will include seismic networks, seismic hazard assessment and risk, earthquake forecasting, artificial intelligence, as well as the social impacts of seismic phenomena. This variety of topics highlights the importance and interdisciplinary nature of seismology in understanding and addressing natural hazards.

"It is our honour to host this year's General Assembly in Corfu, a place with a long tradition and connection to natural phenomena," said Professor Nikolaos Voulgaris, Vice President of the ESC and Chair of the Local Organising Committee. "Our goal is to create a focused event that upholds the highest scientific and organisational standards, facilitating productive discussions and future progress in the field of seismology."
