The first school bells rang out today throughout Corfu, marking the beginning of the school year.
The Holy Blessing took place in the schools of the three municipalities of Corfu, with a greater presence of local government representatives or candidates due to the upcoming elections on October 8th.
In several schools in all three municipalities, pupils found the facilities renovated, either with the reconstruction of sports fields or maintenance of buildings and schoolyards that had been carried out during the summer.
The books will be distributed to the pupils today and tomorrow. However, the issue of shortages in certain primary and secondary schools has sparked reactions from the educational community, while parents remain concerned about the school transportation that will start this year with delays.
Police officers were present at the school entrances, distributing informational leaflets on road safety.
