Woman, 54, passes away in Corfu Hospital ICU

On Sunday , 4/6, a woman who was hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Corfu General Hospital passed away. According to the hospital administration, the 54-year-old woman was admitted in the early hours of Thursday, May 15, in an urgent surgical condition with a strangulated femoral hernia.
Doctors responded immediately to the case but after a few days, complications developed and the woman underwent additional operations, which were successful.
However, Hospital Director, Adamantia Egglezopoulou, told Enimerosi, the patient experienced postoperative respiratory distress during the third operation, leading to her being transferred back to the ICU where she was intubated. "The patient came with a strangulated hernia. The doctors handled everything perfectly," Ms. Englezopoulou stated.
The funeral of the 54-year-old woman will take place on Wednesday, June 7, at 6 p.m. at Sidari Cemetery.
