North Corfu Municipal Council decides unanimously to withdraw from inter-municipal public water company (DIADEYAK)
CORFU. There was also a unanimous decision to set up a North Corfu Ambulance Service (EKAB) base in North Corfu on the condition that it is fully staffed.
The Municipal Council of North Corfu unanimously decided at its meeting yesterday to withdraw from the Corfu Inter-Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Company (DIADEYAK).
The next step will be for the Municipality to submit a request to DIADEYAK for the lease of pumping stations, boreholes, and water sources that belong to it spatially.
In addition, the Municipality will request approval for the transfer of employees from the former Capodistrian North Corfu Municipality, in order to staff the new Water and Sewerage Company (DEYA). It is estimated that there are about 28 permanent and seasonal employees.
The issue of the establishment of an autonomous and independent DEYA was approved by a majority, with the Laiki Sispirosi party requesting the establishment of a Service and not a Company.
Deputy Mayor for Everyday Life, Nikos Mouzakitis, told Enimerosi: "The Municipality of North Corfu has already secured the concurring opinion of the Board of Directors of DIADEYK, which decided by a majority to establish an autonomous DEYA, whenever the Municipality of North Corfu is ready".
The issue that was on the agenda "Implementation of the Internal Service Organisation of the Municipality (OEY) - Activation and Start of the Water Supply Service" was withdrawn due to the previous decision for the establishment of an autonomous DEYA.
North Corfu Ambulance Service (EKAB)
There was also unanimous agreement regarding the creation of the North Corfu EKAB (Ambulance Service). However, this is accompanied by the necessary condition of full staffing with trained personnel and ambulances, so as to avoid the problems experienced by the South Corfu EKAB, which is currently underperforming.
