CORFU. A suitable candidate is being sought to replace him in the next few days.
It is just a matter of days before the replacement of the current Corfu Hospital Director Leonidas Roubatis, who has been under fire from all sides regarding the state of public health on the island, will be announced.
According to reliable sources, the decision has been made by the Ministry of Health and a replacement is being sought.
Enimerosi has information that two or three people - both in Corfu and from elsewhere - have been approached, with the basic qualification being experience in the administration of a health facility. No definite answer has yet been received.
Due to the general friction regarding the issue, it is thought best by many that someone from outside Corfu should be chosen but who has the requisite experience and qualifications.
If there is no immediate permanent replacement, the most likely scenario is that there will be a transition period of a few months during which the Director of another hospital will take on the additional responsibility.
In any case, whatever announcement is made, it is expected within the next few days as Leonidas Roubatis' contract ends on 9 January 2023.
