CORFU. Only one bid was submitted in the the Ionian Islands Region΄s recent call for expressions of interest.

Another property will be put up for evaluation for the creation of a business park in Corfu with the final number of potential plots now being three.

The deadline for expressing interest in the Ionian Islands Region's call in order to obtain land for the creation of a Corfu business park expired on 30 November. As the Deputy Regional Governor for Employment and President of Corfu EANEP (Business Park Development Company) told Enimerosi, a third property was found through this process, which will be examined for its suitability.

The file of the property with all the details has not been opened, as it is expected to be examined by the technical consultant who will be responsible for the updating of the initial study.

However, this tender that ended on 23 November was unsuccessful, as the bids submitted did not meet the selection criteria. Thus, Corfu EANEP proceeded yesterday to another invitation for tenders. Those interested can submit their bids until Tuesday 13 December.

Mr. Ioannou explained that if the tender is again unsuccessful, the updating of the study will be done by direct award. However, time is running out. The Region will soon have to submit a completed file in order to claim the required resources for the implementation of the ambitious project that started on the initiative of the former Deputy Regional Governor Sakis Tsoukas.

The properties

The previous Regional Authority had found two plots of land for the creation of the business park - one in Alykes, Potamos (about 130 stremma) and one in Gouvia (160-170 stremma). However, whether either of the three is suitable will be examined by the technical consultant hired by Corfu EANEP for this purpose.
