CORFU. As part of the cooperation between the Ionian University Research Laboratory of Museology and the Corfu Prison Second Chance School.
As part of the cooperation between the Research Laboratory of Museology of the Ionian University's Archive, Library Science and Museology Department and the Corfu Prison Second Chance School, digital tours in and presentations from museums of the world have started, addressed to the Corfu Prison School students.
The aim is to contribute to the empowerment of these students and their access to culture as a means of social inclusion and integration.
Inclusive culture
The first tour was from the Museum of Islamic Art, in Doha, Qatar, on Friday 18 November. The museum's Director of Conservation and Scientific Research and a PhD candidate at the Ionian University Aristotle-Georgios Sakellariou gave the Corfu Prison Second Chance School students a digital tour in the Emirate of Qatar, the city of Doha and the country's stadiums in view of the World Cup, the landscapes and fauna of the desert and, of course, the Museum of Islamic Art and its collections. The discussion and the exchange of ideas and thoughts were of great benefit.
Those involved will not receive any money or any other reward from this cooperation, but there will be great moral reward and a feeling of social contribution.
The research and coordination is carried out by the Laboratory Director & Associate Professor Georgios Papaioannou and the researcher Dr. Artemis Papandritsa, in collaboration with the Director of the Corfu Prison Second Chance School Kyriakos Kolesis.
