CORFU. His leg was injured by falling tiles in the school toilet and he required stitches.
A 9-year-old schoolboy was injured at the 4th Neohori Primary School in South Corfu yesterday when tiles fell off the toilet wall onto his leg.
The 4th Year pupil was taken to the local health centre, where it was found that he needed stitches.
The incident caused great concern and parents protested about the condition of the school building. A few days earlier plaster had fallen off the walls in the nursery.
The parents' association informed the local authority and the responsible deputy mayor and a crew was sent today to carry out repair work. A meeting with parents and teachers has been arranged for Sunday to discuss the matter.
