Innovative digital platform for Corfu΄s musical heritage by Ionian University

CORFU. An information event on the ‘Trumpet’ project will be held in person at the Ionian Academy on Wednesday 7 September at 16:00.
The Ionian University is inviting all interested parties to participate in the information event on the 'Trumpet' project, which will be held in person at the Ionian Academy (Akadimias & Capodistriou St.) on Wednesday 7 September at 16:00. Admission is free.
The 'Trumpet' project entitled "Innovative digital platform for the promotion of the musical heritage of Corfu" is co-funded by the European Union and is part of the "Ionian Islands 2014-2020" programme.
The main actions of the project include the development of digital services for recording, organising and promoting music documents related to Corfu (music sheets, musical material, concert programmes, etc) with the aim of informing the public about the musical culture of the island. As part of the project, more than 800 music documents from 8 organisations have already been collected and digitally registered.
In addition, the research team of the Ionian University, based on the literature, categorised the registered documents into four distinct and interrelated thematic "musical paths" that highlight the musical culture of the island.
Within the framework of the project the research team developed a central digital repository, an interactive search and presentation online digital platform and a "smart" mobile phone application, through which all interested users may, in a direct and easy-to-use way, search and view the registered collections and stream a selected set of the collected multimedia files.
All the basic documentation (description, metadata, etc) is provided in 4 other languages (English, French, Italian and German) besides Greek.
The activities carried out within the project are the first attempt to gradually collect the musical cultural heritage of Corfu in a central digital repository while at the same time providing open access to all interested parties through an umbrella of digital services covering a wide range of musical cultural content and promoting the richness and diversity of Corfu’s musical heritage.
The developed digital services provide a fundamental instrument and a pool of links for cultural and musical bodies, who will have the opportunity to promote and use the music content throughout the duration of the project, as well as after the end of its contractual duration.
