4.3 Richter earthquake in Lefkada

LEFKADA. There are frequent tremors along this fault line to the west of Lefkada and Cephalonia.
There was a 4.3 Richter earthquake in Lefkada on Tuesday morning. According to the Geodynamic Institute, the tremor took place at 06:49, 8km northwest of Vassiliki in Lefkada with an estimated depth of 16.5km.
Seismologist Efthymios Lekkas said that there are frequent tremors along this fault line to the west of Lefkada and Cephalonia. He added that there haven't been any aftershocks and we still don't know if this was the main earthquake.
"Measures should be taken like those in Porto Katsiki, Egremnous and Agios Nikitas," he said, explaining that areas have been marked off at the aforementioned beaches where camping is not allowed.
He went on to say that there is no need to panic and the situation is being monitored.
