CORFU. The voluntary organisation sent a letter to Central Corfu Municipality regarding fire safety and sewage problems.
Spyros Neratzis and All Together for Corfu are planning to carry out voluntary work on Vidos Island to solve the fire safety and sewage problems. He sent the following letter to Central Corfu Municipality and DIADEYAK:
We are pleased that the problem of water supply to the 12 hose reels at Vidos camp has been solved. This problem was well-known as it had been reported by the Civil Protection service 16 days ago.
The voluntary assistance of Vassilis Melidis and Alekos Mavropoulos was required for this to be accomplished.
The following problems also exist on the island amongst others:
1. The three fire hoses in the pine forest have not had water since the beginning of summer.
2. The sewage pump at the small beach by the harbour doesn't work, resulting in the sea where bathers swim having sewage in it.
3. The large beach has no water at all.
In the middle of summer the aforementioned problems put the island's fire safety at risk along with the health of bathers.
All Together for Corfu has the necessary knowhow and experts and also knows all the details of the fire safety, water supply and sewage facilities as well as the fire service and water supply pumping stations and plans to carry out repair work on Sunday 28 August.
We would like to request your cooperation in order to achieve our common goal - the safety of Vidos and its visitors.
We believe that voluntary work complements the work of the municipality and would like to request that you inform us of any plans that you have.
