Good turnout at information event for Mediterranean monk seal

The 4-day event, which aimed at informing and raising awareness among residents and visitors for the protection of the Mediterranean monk seal, has ended with a good turnout. On Wednesday 17, Thursday 18 and Friday 19 August in the afternoon, the event took place in Pentofanaro, while on Saturday 20 August it was in Othoni.
 
This information event was organised by the Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality in cooperation with the Hellenic Society for the Study and Protection of the Monk seal (MOm), whose representatives held an exhibition to provide useful information on the Mediterranean monk seal's biology, population and distribution in Greece and the Ionian Sea in particular, and raise awareness.
 
This action is part of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality's participation in the 100 Intelligent Cities Challenge – ICC. Thus, the Deputy Mayor for European Programmes, Development and Digital Governance Panayiota Tzanne - who is the local ICC project manager - and the assistant project manager Viktoras Dimoulis were also present at the event.
