Beached beaked whale returns to sea!

CORFU. Following the tremendous patient efforts of volunteers, the beaked whale that had been washed ashore is back at sea.
Good news for the beaked whale following its ordeal on Ai Gordis beach this morning - the third creature to be washed ashore in Corfu in 24 hours.
Residents and volunteers, along with Arion Research Centre for the Rescue and Care of Cetaceans and a team from Paleokastritsa Coastguard, made huge efforts to get the creature back in the sea and allow it to return to its natural environment.
According to Corfu Central Port Authority, today's whale was 5 metres long. At 12:45, following the efforts of all those involved, it was able to swim free once again.
A team from the Coastguard has remained at the spot in case it is washed ashore again.
