CORFU. The lack of personnel at Corfu Health Centre led to ND MP Stefanos Gikas taking action.
The 6th Health Regional Authority, which is responsible for the health facilities in Corfu, stepped in to provide a solution.
Corfu Medical Association had invited private paediatricians to assist at the Health Centre, but initially there was no response, as reported by Enimerosi.
A temporary solution was found following the intervention of the Regional Health Director Yiannis Karvelis and the ND health representative.
The Health Centre issued the following statement:
Following the intervention of the Regional Health Director Yiannis Karvelis and the ND health representative Natasa Apostolidou, the problem of lack of personnel at Corfu Health Centre has been temporarily resolved with the contracting of three private doctors.
The Centre is also in the process of renewing the contract with the security company guarding the facility.
