Teleconference to coordinate protective measures over the festive period

CORFU. Hospital Director Leonidas Roubatis said that there is 110% occupancy in Covid beds in Corfu Hospital.
The Ionian Islands Regional Governor Rodi Kratsa convened a teleconference on Wednesday 22 December between the Corfu Municipalities, the Security Forces, the Corfu General Hospital and the Medical Association, in order to coordinate the actions for the implementation of protective measures and to call on individual responsibility during the Christmas holidays.
In the teleconference there was an assessment of the pandemic data in Corfu in view of the increase in Covid cases following the increase in viral load in urban wastewater in Corfu by 241%, as well as in view of the holidays.
The Central Corfu Mayor Meropi Ydraiou announced that in order to limit the spread and avoid overcrowding, the Municipality cancelled all Christmas events.
At the same time, the Police and the Coast Guard gave an update on the progress of the checks they have been carrying out and their intensification during the holidays.

The General Hospital Director Leonidas Roubatis said that the hospital is at its limit as the occupancy in Covid beds is 110%, while there are 42 patients in the Special Infectious Diseases Unit and Pulmonary Clinic and another 4 patients in the ICU.
During the meeting it was said that all bodies and organisations should be on the alert and coordinate in order to deal with the situation in view of the new measures to be announced.
The Regional Governor Rodi Kratsa, the Deputy Regional Governor for Civil Protection Nikos Miliotis, the Deputy Regional Governor Melita Andrioti, the Central Corfu Mayor Meropi Ydraiou, the Deputy Mayor for Civil Protection Theofanis Skembris, the General Hospital Director Leonidas Roubatis, the Corfu Medical Association President Dimitris Kaloudis, the Corfu Police Chief Manthos Yiannoulis and the harbourmaster Commander Ioannis Stathouros were all present at the teleconference.
