CORFU. There was a firefighting and rescue exercise at the oil tanks in Alykes this morning.
The exercise was conducted by the Fire Department, headed by Fire Chief Nikos Kolovos, and the Ambulance Service (EKAB).
The exercise included not only the extinguishing of fires in a location with combustible liquids, but the rescue of any injured parties.
The director of the facility said that the company carries out firefighting exercises every year so that personnel can be trained in the immediate response until firefighters arrive, who then take over.
