CORFU. What percentage of pupils have been vaccinated.

More new daily infections at Corfu schools today, Wednesday 24 November.

According to the Ionian Islands Regional Education Department, 6 primary school pupils and 3 teachers have tested positive for Covid and 10 secondary school pupils.

The Regional Education  Director Petros Aggelopoulos told ERA Kerkyra that over the last two weeks, 69 confirmed cases have been recorded amongst primary school pupils and 114 amongst secondary school pupils.

Out of 6,663 Corfu junior high and high school pupils,1,230 have been vaccinated (18%).

The other Ionian islands have higher percentages - 31% of pupils over 12in Zakynthos, 29% in Cephalonia and 27.5% in Lefkada.

According to the Health Committees at the Ministries of Health and Education, the most important measures are very frequent tests and the use of masks," said Mr. Aggelopoulos. "These are the most effective measures against the spread of the virus in schools and are said to reduce transmission by up to 70%. Nevertheless, with the recent increases we need to constantly review the measures and be prepared to take new ones."
