Corfu Accountants Association warns of bank scams

The Corfu Accountants Association said that these past few days strangers have been calling businesses, pretending to be accounting office employees, and have been asking for their web banking details in order to give them Covid-19 benefits that they are supposedly entitled to. Some have fallen victim to the scam.
 
These incidents have nothing to do with accountants and accounting offices. Therefore, the Corfu Accountants Association stated that under no circumstances would its members request web banking details from anyone for any reason and is warning business owners and taxpayers not to give their web banking login details.
 
Accountants only know the IBAN number which is entered in the taxisnet system after consultation with taxpayers.
 
The Corfu Accountants Association is warning all businesspeople and taxpayers not to give their web banking details under any circumstances, to follow the bank’s safety instructions and to report such incidents to the police.
