Corfu Hospital is now at the point where it needs to think about transferring patients to wherever there are ICU beds available.
According to reliable sources, six out of the seven ICU beds were full on Monday night. The same sources say that transferring patients doesn't mean to Ioannina - it means to wherever there are beds available.
Ioannina is also under pressure with demands from the surrounding areas - Epirus, Aitoloakarnania and, of course, Albania.
The Special Infectious Diseases Unit at Corfu Hospital is also full and the hospital is being turned into a facility solely for Covid-19. The vast majority of those in the Covid Unit and ICU are unvaccinated.
Central Corfu Municipality has begun a campaign to encourage people to get vaccinated and will be holding a press conference along with the hospital administration. A short video has already been published.
