COVID-19

CORFU. Corfu Hospital is under tremendous pressure.

Corfu Hospital is under tremendous pressure due to the increased number of admissions of Covid patients and the consequent pressure on health workers.

The Special Infectious Diseases Unit has already exceeded its maximum capacity - on Tuesday afternoon (14:00) there were 30 Covid patients, one of whom has been put in the Pathology Clinic.

Two patients have also been transferred to the ICU, where they have been intubated and require constant observation.

On top of this, today three patients in the Pathology Clinic tested positive for Covid.

All of this led to the Hospital Administration deciding today to suspend all the regular outpatient clinics from 12 November until further notice as a necessary protective measure.

According to medical sources, the only hospital on the island is basically being transformed into a facility for one disease, with all the dangers this poses for the healthcare of residents.
