CORFU. An 80-year-old patient died on Wednesday morning - the hospital is coming under increased pressure.
All the beds in Corfu Hospital Covid Unit are now full with the number of positive Covid admissions increasing over the last few days.
The pressure the hospital is now facing has led to the implementation of Plan B, with the use of the 17-bed Pulmonary Clinic. If necessary, all the beds will be made available and the Pulmonary Clinic itself will move to the Pathology Clinic.
On Wednesday afternoon, 10 November, there are 29 patients hospitalised in the Special Infectious Diseases Unit, 95% of whom are unvaccinated, according to hospital sources.
An 80-year-old man who was admitted to the Unit at midnight died this morning.
At the end of last week there were 14 patients, meaning that there has been an increase of 100% over the last five days.
At the moment, there are no patients in the ICU.
