CORFU. Another two defibrillators, funded by Corfu businessmen, have now been placed.
The placement of defibrillators at various locations comes following the death of Stratos Tagatidis from acute myocardial infarction.
With assistance from the Ambulance Service paramedic Thomas Bandas, the two new defibrillators have been placed at busy locations on the edge of Corfu Town.
One has been placed outside Cafe Kanoni and the other beside Naftilo in Anemomylos.
They are enclosed in iron casing as protection against the weather and can be seen by security cameras in order to prevent any vandalism.
All the defibrillators that have been placed in Corfu are included in the AED Locator, a mobile app designed and created by the Ionian University Informatics Department and specifically the students Alexandros Rigas and Dimitris Pramateftakis.
The map on the app is updated with each new defibrillator and is the first of its kind in Greece. The AED Locator is available free on Google Play Store and hopes in future to include similar maps for the rest of Greece.
