CORFU. The count is part of the study for the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP).
The counting of traffic volume within the Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality has been completed, as part of the study commissioned for the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP).
The process of counting traffic volume was done with automatic counters that recorded the road traffic for one week on a 24-hour basis, covering the entrances and exits of the study area, which is focused on the former Corfu Municipal Unit’s boundaries.
This count, in addition to the traffic volume, will also provide information on the traffic’s composition, i.e. quality characteristics.
According to the planning, this will be followed by counting of turning movements with observers at 31 junctions, which are expected to be completed in six days.
The specific data collected is the most important part of the data that necessary for the recording and evaluation of the existing situation, as well as the development of a sustainable traffic model for Corfu.
