CORFU. A new borehole is expected to become operational – request to consumers not to use water excessively.
Statement from Corfu Intermunicipal Water Supply and Sewerage Companies regarding water supply problem in parts of North Corfu:
Over the last few days there has been a shortage of water mainly in Northwest Corfu areas (former Agios Georgios Municipality). The cause of the problem is the overconsumption of water combined with the low levels in the existing boreholes. DEYAK crews are working daily to solve the problem and looking at the possibility of supplying water from other sources.
A new borehole is expected to receive power supply soon and it is believed that this will solve the overall problem.
It should be noted that in the areas of Sinies, Kentroma and Gimari, where there has been a serious water scarcity problem, the DIA.D.E.Y.A.D.K. crews are working to resolve the problem.
DEYAK requests consumers not to use water excessively and to limit it to household
purposes only.
Water is the most valuable commodity and the source of life.
