CORFU. The bodies were still at the scene of the violent crime late on Sunday afternoon.

The Medical Examiner Yiannis Aivatidis and scene of crime officers have been collecting evidence to throw some light on the tragedy which appears to have started off as a 'minor' matter.

According to the neighbours, the property owner Louisa Avramidou (60) was having a loud argument with the tenant S.V. (67) about the house.

Louisa Avramidou, French teacher and daughter of Achileas Avramidis, who used to be a municipal councillor

Christos Zigouris (63) from Preveza, another tenant in the same building, came down to see what was happening. During the argument S.V. grabbed a shotgun and shot the other two, killing them.

The loud voices and gunshots caused alarm amongst the neighbours, who immediately called the police. The shooter locked himself in his house and then shot himself.

This was a double homicide. A shotgun was used and all the evidence indicates that the perpetrator killed himself. The wounds on the two victims indicate that they were shot at very close range and that of the third person was at point-blank range, indicating suicide. In other words, the double homicide took place first and was followed by the suicide - all done with a shotgun.

The murder victims had head wounds and the third person had a point-blank wound in his chest. Each of the two murder victims was shot at least once and it is probable that one of them was shot twice.

The man was probably shot first and there was a big distance between the two victims - around 15 metres. Based on the evidence, my opinion is that there was definitely criminal intent in this tragedy.
