Corfu Archbishop joins the ΄rebels΄ and announces that churches will be open for Epiphany

CORFU. Archbishop Nektarios has joined the ΄holy rebels΄ and chosen to follow the previous measures and not those in force now.

Corfu, Paxos & Diapontia Islands Metropolitan Church has announced that churches will be open for Epiphany for people to attend - a maximum of 25 attendees in churches up to 375 sq.m. and 50 in churches larger than 375 sq.m.

Church statement:

Following the decision of the Holy Synod on 4 January that all churches are obliged to open for Epiphany so that people can take part in the service and the blessing of the waters, churches in Corfu, Paxos and the Diapontia Islands will be open on the morning of Wednesday 6 January with a maximum of 25 attendees in churches up to 375 sq.m. and 50 in churches larger than 375 sq.m. in accordance with the measures announced before Christmas.

Proper distancing will be observed, masks will be mandatory and all measures to protect public health will be observed as was done for Christmas and New Year.

Following the services the churches will remain open for individual prayer and for those wishing to receive the Holy Water, with health measures being observed.
