CORFU. Fire Chief Nikos Kolovos said that there was a 38% decrease in the number of wildfires in Corfu this year.
Fire Chief Nikos Kolovos posted on social media to say that the targets that had been set this year had been successful met.
The number of wildfires dropped by 38% during the high-risk period and the average area burnt in each fire decreased to 2 stremma.
The Fire Chief thanked all the volunteers, the Municipal Civil Protection services and members of the public who helped achieve this.
