SMYRNI (IZMIR). Blocks of flats in Smyrni transformed into piles of rubble in the space of a few seconds.
The 6.7 Richter earthquake with its epicentre 19km northwest of Samos hit the town of Smyrni (Izmir) in Turkey as well.
Terrified residents ran out of their homes as buildings collapsed.
