3 days of events in remembrance of the Holocaust

There will be three days of special events in remembrance of the Holocaust from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 October organised by the German Presidency of the International Alliance in collaboration with the Central Corfu Municipality and the Israeli community.

Tomorrow, Friday 23rd, at 19:00 the official opening will take place in the foyer of the Municipal Theatre. There will be welcome addresses from the Mayor, Regional Governor, German Ambassador, President of the Greek Central Israeli Council and the Honoraray President of Corfu Israeli Community.

Friday 23rd

19:00 Official opening in the Municipal Theatre foyer.

Saturday 24th

10:00 Service at the Synagogue. Laying of wreaths at the Holocaust Memorial.
12:00 Opening of exhibition organised by the Greek Jewish Museum 'At the crossroads: Corfu Jewish community' at the Latin Chapel in the Old Fortress.
17:00 Video screening of presentation by Dr. Odette Varon-Vassar "Albert Cohen: the man and his work".
20:30 'Mantzaros' Philharmonic Society concert at the Municipal Theatre (invitation only).

Sunday 25th

10:00 Opening of photography exhibition by Artemis Alcalay 'Corfu / Return. Greek survivors of the Holocaust' at the Synagogue and video screening showing the restoration work at the Synagogue by the Hellenic-German Future Foundation.
17:00 Live presentation by Dr. Evi Karamoutsou "The Corfu Jewish community over the years".
