PIRAEUS. The 12 crew members of the cruise ship ΄Mein Schiff 6΄ who had initially tested positive for coronavirus all appeared negative in repeat tests.
The cruise ship docked at Piraeus Port at 05:00 this morning and the health authorities immediately carried out tests on all the crew members.
According to protocol, tests on passengers were then to follow. The tests showed that the 12 crew members who had previously tested positive now appeared negative.
If, following testing of all the crew, all the tests are negative, the cruise ship is expected to continue as scheduled.
According to the authorities, the reversal is due to mistaken diagnosis at the first lab.
The cruise ship was sailing from Heraklion to Piraeus and then on to Corfu with 922 passengers and 666 crew members.
According to TUI Cruises, which owns the ship, none of the 12 crew who initially tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 showed any symptoms. The company also confirmed that all 12 had been placed in quarantine on board the ship.
