Half Corfu Town without water - problem expected to be fixed tonight

CORFU. The problem was found just before 18:00 in one of the three main pipes that supply the town with water - near the junction outside the old Desyllas factory in Garitsa.
Water from the pipe is running into Garitsa Bay.
Crews from the Public Water Company DEYAK immediately went to the spot and water supply in Garitsa and a large part of town has been cut off. The remaining areas of town has very low pressure and there is a problem with water reaching the higher floors.
According to the company's technical director Mr. Katsaros, it is hoped that the damage will be repaired and water supply resumed by late tonight.
