Increase in number of cases in Germany - South Korea concerned about second wave

Phasing out of lockdown measures amidst fears of a second wave, which it is hoped will be avoided due to summer conditions.

- British PM Boris Johnson is set to announce on Sunday evening a five-tier warning system for COVID-19 risk in different areas of England, ranging from "green" at level one to "red" at level five, to allow easing of restrictions where needed.

- The British government will also change its "stay at home" slogan to "stay alert" according to local media reports, while Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said they will not be adopting this change.

- Germany's coronavirus infections are growing again as the reproduction rate rises to 1.1. This comes days after the country loosened social restrictions, raising concerns that the virus could slip out of control again.


- Russian authorities said on Sunday they had recorded 11,012 new cases of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 209,688, overtaking France and Germany.

- Spain's daily death toll from the coronavirus fell to 143 on Sunday, down from 179 the previous day, marking the lowest daily death toll since mid-March.

- Germany's plans to restart competitive football on 16 May are in doubt after the entire team of second tier Dynamo Dresden were placed in a two-week quarantine following two positive coronavirus tests.

- South Korea has warned of a second wave of COVID-19 as infections rebounded to a one-month high on Sunday, just as the authorities were beginning to ease some restrictions.
