Niikos Hardalias: "Some of the measures being lifted may need to be brought back at a later date"

ATHENS. The Civil Protection Deputy Minister announced that lockdown measures will be lifted in some Municipalities and seafronts on Tuesday 28 April.

Lockdown measures will be lifted at the New Seafront in Thessaloniki and the seafronts in Patras and Volos. In actual fact, the seafront areas in Thessaloniki and Patras have already opened.

The quarantine has also been lifted in the Municipalities of Kastoria, Orestidos, Nestorio and Xanthi.

Quarantine in Mikis Municipality extended

The Deputy Minister said that the measures in the Municipality of Mikis in Xanthi will continue until 4 May as there are two villages in the Municipality - Zoumbouli and Arnaouti - which are in quarantine. He said that the extension was a precautionary measure.

Checks on those coming from Turkey will continue in Kipous, Evros until 4 May.

Nikos Hardalias' message for the coming week

Mr. Hardalias said that this coming week is of special significance and stressed that the measures will be strictly enforced whilst at the same time preparations are being made for the next phase.

"With the lifting of measures individual responsibility must be transferred from isolation at home to circulating outside and we have must adhere strictly to regulations and show respect to our fellow-citizens," he said.

He pointed out that there will be intervals between the stages and there will be continuous monitoring of the situation with the pandemic. "Some of the measures being lifted may need to be brought back at a later date," he warned.

He called on everyone to strictly adhere to health measures and guidelines.

"Until measures are lifted they must be adhered to for the protection of our health. Until there is a vaccine and effective treatment our everyday lives will not be the same," he said.
