Yesterday΄s violations by drivers travelling outside their region

ATHENS. Offenders are fined 300 Euros and have number plates removed.

Police are carrying out checks throughout the country to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Violations on Thursday 16 April:

Travel outside region of permanent residency:

- Attica: 36
- Central Macedonia: 19
- Thessaloniki: 12
- Western Macedonia: 5
- Western Greece: 4
- Thessaly: 4
- Epirus: 1

Fines of 300 Euros were imposed for each of these and in 56 instances number plates were also removed for 60 days.

Since the measure came into force there have been 535 violations, each receiving fines of 300 Euros and in 309 cases number plates were removed for 60 days.

Lockdown violations:

There were 1,738 lockdown violations throughout Greece, all of which were fined.

- Thessaloniki: 203
- Central Macedonia: 120
- Western Greece: 119
- Crete: 115
- Peloponnese: 71
- Mainland Greece: 69
- North Aegean: 67
- South Aegean: 66
- Eastern Macedonia & Thrace: 62
- Ionian Islands: 57
- Thessaly: 55
- Epirus: 20
- Western Macedonia: 5

Since the measures came into force on 23 March there have been 43,730 violations throughout Greece, which were each fined 150 Euros.

Operation of cafes, bars, eateries and other prohibited businesses:

There 17 violations and 10 people were arrested.

Since these businesses were first prohibited from operating on 12 March there have been 457 violations throughout the country and 436 people have been arrested.

Police checks are ongoing in order to safeguard public health.
