CORFU. Members of the medical community have told Enimerosi that testing shouldn΄t be so centralised and Corfu Hospital needs a Liquid Biopsy Lab in order to reduce the waiting time.

Corfu Hospital will be getting a response from the Pasteur Institute on Monday as regards the results from the PCR tests. These include those of the patient recently arrived from Belgium, who is in quarantine on the 4th floor of the hospital with severe pneumonia. His condition is stable and he is receiving respiratory support.

Meanwhile, according to police sources, a team has been set up in Corfu to trace all contacts with possible confirmed coronovirus cases.

Members of the medical community have said that testing of liquid biopsies should be decentralised as soon as possible, giving public health services more time to respond if necessary.

According to a recent report by Enimerosi based on hospital sources, the funds for a PCR lab - 45 - 50k Euros - have already been raised from Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality, the Chamber of Commerce and others.
