CORFU. Precautions to be taken if we have to leave the house.

Advice from Corfu Medical Association if any of us have to leave the house for any serious reason, despite the 'Stay at Home' guideline.

Going out

1. We must wear a mask if we have to wait in a place with a lot of people, e.g. queues, supermarkets etc.

2. We don't touch or sit on public surfaces, seating etc. The virus remains on surfaces for 48 to 72 hours.

3. We maintain a safety distance (2m) from everyone. Look on everybody as a possible carrier of the virus. No handshakes, hugging or kissing. We avoid any congested spaces wherever they are unless it is absolutely necessary.

Returning home

1. We must remove our shoes outside the door. We spray them with disinfectant. Nobody comes into the house with shoes! When we come in we take off our clothes, put them in a basket and wash them at a temperature over 60 degrees.

IMPORTANT: We don't wear the clothes we had on outdoors inside the house.

2. We disinfect our hands with antiseptic as soon as we come into the house and then wash them. We wipe them with paper and not with shared towels. We throw away the used paper immediately.

If we follow the above measures vigilantly, then we can be sure that if we stay at home, all will be well.
