CORFU. The Association΄s Board has asked members to declare their availability to set up a voluntary emergency team and will wait until Tuesday afternoon to see what response there is from private doctors.
The matter was discussed at Sunday's open meeting following Meropi Ydraiou's suggestion that a voluntary team be set up to help lighten the load on the few call centres that handle cases.
Meanwhile, an area with beds is expected to be set up next to the hospital on Monday evening which will handle those needing to be examined without them having to enter the main building - a precautionary measure to avoid new cases.
If a case is diagnosed and needs to be admitted, they will be taken to a specially prepared area on the 4th floor of the hospital. Those with mild symptoms will be sent home and stay there for the required amount of time, following the medical instructions for their symptoms so as not to spread it to those around them.
