Closure of shops in Corfu being considered

In a joint statement Corfu Trade Association and the Ionian Federation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship said that they are in talks with the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE) to discuss the closure of shops.

According to the statement, this would be a precautionary measure to protect consumers, personnel and shopowners.

Corfu Trade Association and the Ionian Federation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship are also in discussion with ESEE with regard to implementing measures to support businesses and employees financially.

The joint statement said: "We recommend that people stay calm and adhere to the measures. We are looking out first of all to safeguard our health and to deal with the financial consequences for our sector and those we work with."
