CORFU. Corfiots enjoyed the Sunday carnival parade reminiscent of the Venetian period.

Since 2013 the Likio Ellinidon has been transporting the island back to the Venetian period at Carnival time with their magnificent traditional costumes.

Once again this year, everyone was impressed by the wonderful traditional costumes that the Likio Ellinidon look after and maintain in pristine condition.

The doges and countesses with their golden-threaded dresses, the masks creating an air of mystery and charm all created a magical Venetian image taking everyone's breath away.

The parade passed along Evg. Voulgareos St. to Pentofaneros and Liston taking everyone back to the 18th century - when Casanova was searching for the best theatrical groups in Otrada, Italy to bring to the Corfu Carnival in imitation of the great Carnival in the Serene Republic of Venice.

Along with the Likio Ellinidon there was also another group who - very successfully, as can be seen from the photos - took us all back to the Venetian period with their impressive costumes and masks.
