"Viva la fiesta" says Meropi Ydraiou as the Corfu Carnival begins

CORFU. Corfu Town was filled with joyful music and colours on Sunday evening with the opening of the Corfu Carnival.
The celebrations began in the pedestrian precinct and ended in Liston for the opening ceremony. The Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Mayor Meropi Ydraiou gave a brief welcome address and then the fun began with young and old joining in the celebrations!
There are lots of musical and dance events in the Carnival programme, which ends on Sunday March.
Corfu Events Organisation, 'Capodistrias' Philharmonic Society, 'Fuego Art Dance' dance school, Likio Ellinidon and Corfu Maskarata took part in the "Viva la Fiesta" celebration.
