CORFU. The 63-year-old woman passed away in her home - which had no heating - in the Jewish Quarter of Corfu Town.

It is tragic that in the 21st century someone in the western world can die from the cold. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened in Corfu - a 63-year-old woman suffered hypothermia and passed away in her home in Agia Sofia St. in the Jewish Quarter.

According to the autopsy conducted by Dr. Ioannis Aivatidis, the woman died of hypothermia in her house, which apparently had no heating.

It seems, unfortunately, that winters are worsening and temperatures even in Corfu Town, not just in mountain villages, are dropping to just above zero in several instances and there are people unable to heat their homes who are suffering.

Enimerosi Publications express their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the 63-year-old woman.
