ATHENS. The Ministerial decision regarding parking regulations for motorcycles will be published soon.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is attempting to provide a solution to the problem of unregulated motorcycle parking with the creation of parking areas for motorcycles and bicycles.
According to the comments of the responsible Deputy Minister Yiannis Kefaloyiannis to APE-MPE, the Ministerial decision will lay out the operational conditions for these parking areas - "Minimum dimensions, night lighting, security and technical specifications".
The Deputy Minister also said that they were looking into "the possibility of parking areas on upper levels or roofs so as to increase the capacity of parking areas in limited space as well as the possibility of creating parking areas in existing car parks."
At the moment there is no legislative framework for motorcycle parking areas but the opportunity will now be given to whoever wishes to set up this type of business. The new legislation is expected to be ready at the beginning of 2020.
