CORFU. ΄Anemomylos΄ Cultural & Environmental Society is organising a series of artistic events outside the Phoenix Theatre.
The events are being held under the auspices of Central Corfu Municipality with the Deputy Mayor for Culture and in collaboration with the Corfu Association of Cultural Organisations.
The aim of the events is to raise the awareness of the Corfu public so that they can support the efforts of the newly-elected local authority to at last restore the historical theatre.
The events begin today, 25 September, at 18:30 with the following dance groups:
1. Ai Mathia Women's Traditional Arts Society
2. Likio Elinidon
3. Pelekas Cultural Society Dance Group
4. Prnjavor Dance Ensemble
5. Korakiana 'Spyros Samaras' Philharmonic Society Dance Group
Pantelis Kontos posted the following on Facebook: "There will be other events with local arts groups - philharmonic societies, choirs, theatre, dance groups etc. We are happy with the excellent collaboration with the new local authority. The goodwill and understanding on both sides will help overcome any technical, bureaucratic and other obstacles that we may find in front of us and help with all preparations.
The sole aim is to overcome any difficulties with the support of all of us. This is an ongoing effort to achieve our final goal of restoring the Phoenix - this iconic and much-needed cultural centre. An effort supported by all the cultural associations in Corfu."
