CORFU. A solution was found - instead of twinning with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce the meeting became a business forum between the two Chambers.
The Chamber Board had repeatedly rejected the proposal by the President Giorgos Hondroyiannis and committee members for twinning with the Chambers from Serbia, Venice and Valetta, Malta.
According to its press release, Corfu Chamber of Commerce hosted an innovative and extremely constructive business forum on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd September with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce. The main topics of the forum were female, youth and community businesses.
Attendees had the opportunity to listen to talks and presentations from the Serbian Chamber. There was especial interest in the business opportunities presented in an increasingly economic environment.
Also of note was the fact that the majority of the speakers at the forum were women, thus demonstrating the global importance of female entrepreneurship. Furthermore, the meetings between members of the two Chambers and other attendees led not only to even closer relations between the two but also an exchange of knowledge and views on moder business planning.
At the conclusion of this constructive business forum a memorandum of cooperation between the two Chambers of Commerce was signed so that there could be an exchange of knowledge and support to further develop female, youth and community businesses.
Attendees at the forum included the following: Spyridon Mastoras (Honorary Serbian Consul in Corfu), Panayiota Tzane (representing Municipality of Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands), Vassilis Stafilis (Senior Commander, Corfu Guard), Father Nikolaos (representing the Church), Dimitrije Stikic (Marketing, PR and project manager - representing Serbian Church), whose support played a significant role in the success of the forum.
