΄Ancient΄ water pipe in Kanoni bursts three times in 24 hours

An old cast iron pipe from 1936 burst three times in 24 hours. DEYAK (Public Water Company) Head Kostas Alamanos gave this as the reason for the flooding of the road in Kanoni and the water supply stoppages in areas supplied by this pipe (Zafiropoulou, Marasli, Garitsa, Tennis).
The pipe burst for the first time on Tuesday afternoon. It was repaired after a few hours and then burst twice again at different points! On Wednesday afternoon the crews were able to repair the third damage and it is hoped that the pipe won't burst again elsewhere.
Mr. Alamanos, who took up his position this summer, told Enimerosi that "I have been told that the old pipe has never been replaced because up to now there had never been a problem."
