CORFU. Temploni residents were happy to receive the Public Prosecutor Vassili Christouli on Saturday morning.

They gave her a 'guided tour' of the facility and discussed the problems they have had to face for such a long time. The Temploni issue and the apportioning of blame for decades of mismanagement has been in the hands of the Judiciary for a long time now but as yet there hasn't been a hearing.

The Prosecutor's visit gave residents hope that developments are imminent regarding all those involved over time - mayors, SYDISA Presidents, companies and Municipal officials.

According to residents, the Prosecutor appeared to be shocked at the sight of piled up waste bales and refuse, polluted liquids and the stench present in the area. She listened to their concerns about the lack of space and the planned location of the waste management facility as well as their demand that the waste be removed from the island.

The President of the Temploni Association Magda Papanikolopoulou told Enimerosi that the Prosecutor agreed that there should be a hearing for the Temploni issue - even if only as an example to be avoided. At the end of her visit she invited residents to a further meeting at her office.
