Presentation and discussion - Oil drilling in the Ionian Sea

CORFU. Organised by Fossil Free Corfu with the support of Greenpeace Greece and WWF Hellas.
Fossil Free Corfu is organising its first scientific event "Oil Drilling in Corfu", which will take the form of a presentation and open discussion on the consequences of oil drilling in the Corfu region. The event takes place on Sunday 23 June at 20:00 at Corfu Workers' Centre (Samara 6, pedestrian precinct, 2nd floor) and is open to the public. It is estimated that it will last 90 minutes.
Sessions include the following presentations:
1. Repercussions of exploration and oil drilling on the marine environment.
2. The need to protect the marine wealth of Corfu and Paxos.
3. The financial risks and consequences for the Ionian islands.
4. Climate change and the need for change in the energy sector.
Speakers:
1. Kostas Grimanis - Head of Greenpeace Climate Justice
2. Stamatis Ginis - Biologist and Ichthyologist, Board member of the Management Organisation for the Protected Areas of Kalamas-Aheron-Corfu.
3. Olivier Vardakoulias - Economist and WWF member.
Ms Pella Kalogirou, from Preveza Citizens' Initiative against hydrocarbon mining, will also be sharing her experience as will Dimitris Bouzos, representative of Ithaka-Cephalonia Open Assembly against hydrocarbon drilling.
The evnt will be coordinated by the journalist Aris Kardonas.
