CORFU. The recruitment of the new personnel has been officially announced and they have started work.

The recruitment of 12 nurses and 2 midwives has been completed and the new personnel has started work.

The Hospital Administration announced that all the nurses who had applied in February 2019 for the positions that the hospital had requested had been recruited on a 3-year contract.

In the Director's announcement he said: "These new arrivals positively increase the balance at the hospital between non-medical staff recruitment and departure over the last 3 years. The hospital now employs 511 non-medical personnel (permanent, auxiliary and contract) compared to 452 in corresponding positions on 1 January 2016 - a 13% increase. Over the same period there has been an increase of 26% in specialist medical personnel.

We would like to highlight the speed with which the recruitment procedure was conducted - just 3 months from when the hospital requested the personnel until today. This is due to the recent legislation regarding recruitment which speeds up the procedure in line with that of doctors.

The procedure to make permanent the remaining 9 non-medical auxiliary positions which existed has already begun and the deadline of 31 May for applications has been extended."
